On and off for years I have shot swaged lead bullets made by different makers and lubed with various forms of what seems to be a wax base lube. I've never had problems with them, so long as velocity was kept not greater than 800 fps. Does anyone here know what those lubes are, how to make and apply them?

Let me preface this by saying that I have never even handled a swagd lead bullet.

That said, I would imagine that you could use some sort of tumble lube. Pictures I have seen of swaged bullets make them seem like they work on the same principle as tumble lube style bullets.

it just feels like a wax and a powder.
if I were the one that was gonna try to duplicate it I'd just make some 45/45/10 lube or go with straight cooked down jpw and throw some motor mica into the mix.

I tried to duplicate the coating on 22 lr rounds and come up with cooked off Johnson's paste wax and bees wax. [3 to 1]
it makes a nice shell but turns a little flaky when dry, it did stay in the lube grooves and such though and shoots very well.
