I just delayed my anticipated casting equipment purchase because of this:

NICE! Well, a person does need something to feed with that casting equipment, don't they?

Stainless is a good choice, as it resists the drool of those seeing it for the first time. I want one.....but I already bought rifle brass, and they are about the same price these days.

Yep. Going to be like razors. Pretty soon the guns companies will give you the gun for free cause you will have to buy the ammo.

EWa,

Nice piece. Hard to describe how it makes you feel huh?

Super nice! The only thing I would like to have is a way to change front sights without messing up the looks.

I've got a stock Bisley Vaquero in 44 Mag that I like real well, after the trigger job. BUT, the front sight had to be leaned over a little, because it wasn't even close for windage, although it does shoot well. I do NOT like that front sight leaning over - it needs to stand up straight. What is the best fix for that?

btw, Eastwa, nice looking shooter!

Dave Clements did the work 4-5 years ago. The records for the revolver are in storage, but he recognizes the custom barrel, linebored cylinder (still a 6 shot), gold dot front, locking basepin, action job, etc. Still 45 Colt. Not to mention the grips. Did not know that I needed it until I stumbled across the post. Impulse spending at its finest.

I have been doing a lot of reading here, but have yet to melt any lead. I have purchased 5 yrs of Handloader magazines from this site, and have Veral Smiths' book on the way. Cylinders in the other 45's have been reamed, and the bores slugged. A RCBS 45-270-SAA is on the list. Have a source for WW. Hitting the second hand stores for cast iron cookware. Watching the classifieds for everything else, but Midway will probably get a order soon with my birthday discount.... Thanks for the forum. Lots of good info here.

OH YEAH! :Fire: I didn't notice the dovetailed front sight in the first picture. You have the best of all worlds.

That picture of the front sight sure answered my question.

That looks like a wonderful piece. I have a stock Bisley Vaquero in .45 Colt and it shoots "a treat". I did a trigger job but it shot to point of aim at 25 yards right out of the box. Mine has a 5.5" barrel and holsters well and still is long enough for me to shoot it well.

I have shot it extensively with both smokeless and black (and Pyrodex). It was quite educational to see what a powerhouse a blackpowder .45 Colt is (950 fps with a 260 gr bullet in front of a case full +1/16" of Swiss 3F).

I am a fan of the full size Rugers in .45 Colt. These are really excellent revolvers in most every way. Your custom should be just "more of the same" (not just wonderful, but wonderful PLUS:drinks:).

I got to get me one of those dovetail sights for my little Uberti .32 H&R/.32-20 combo. It would be a whole lot more fun to shoot if the fixed sights weren't putting lead about two feet low and two to the left at 25 yards.

Beautiful "heater." And, in the very chambering God would choose, if he needed one!

I am a "Nut" for a good sight picture and normally prefer adjustable sights (and with my old age vision problems that is often a Red Dot). However, the Bisley Vaquero has a really good sight picture "as issued" even though the sights are fixed. Since mine shoots "to the sights" I have little to complain about. If I had windage problems, that dovetailed front sight would likely solve that and in a rather elegant manner, at that.

I do admit a bit of envy when looking at your grips. They are not only beautiful, but look to be slim enough to really work well. My original walnut grips were very plain but shaped correctly. However, I swapped them out for some checkered White micarta and while they look nice they are too fat to suit me. If I cut them down, there goes the checkering. Guess I'm gonna have to swap them off.
