Gentlemen,
I am looking for a smokeless load for my old Uberti Henry .44. The projectile is from an original winchester single cavity mould. I normally use about 33grs of FFFg.Black. I used to use Unique shotgun powder, nice accurate load (don't have the details at the moment) but it was not bulky enough to fill the case. I am looking for a bulky powder.
Cheers and thanks

How about some Trailboss?

Mate, I was wondering about that, as some was given to me, but, till this moment had forgotten .

A case full of FFFG and have fun! I don't even use a wad under mine.

I'd highly recommend KirkD loads. He put me on to extremely accurate loads. If you can't find his posts on the 44-40, I'll tell you what he said. But please try to get it from the horses mouth.

Heelerau,
Welcome to the forum.

Since the bullet you are using does not have a crimp groove and thus it was meant to be supported at the base by a capacity load of b.p., the closest case filling smokeless load would be 25 grs of Alliant RL7 which is safe for toggle link actions.

. Thanks mate, will see if I can get that powder down under, or at least find an equivalent. I am a bit windy over smokeless because of the weak actions of the ;73 and Henry. Thanks for the welcome, looks like a very informative forum.

Cheers
