That's right, just reload your own now!

http://22lrreloader.com

For the low price of $200 you can reload 4500 22lr for $65.00

If it were $100 I would buy it for fun and making black powder 22lr.

I'm tempted to buy it just to see how they instruct you to make priming compound.

they have videos showing everything, but with a crappy camera and far away.

but they make the priming compound from strike anywhere matches or caps for cap guns. they use the eye dropper to put 1 drop of water or acetone to make it flow into the rim of the case then let dry for a day.

Hmmm - guess I was lucky finding new primed empty 22LR cases:
Add Lyman #5 powder charger - empty Win 209 tray - Swiss Null B - David Mos custom mold of 1897 UMC 42gr match bullet - CH4D seating die and Lyman H&I lube sizer = 50 loaded rounds in about 20 minutes
Really don't want to putz with all that has to be done & the time to do it with the Sharpshooter 22LR Kit
Now if there was a source for primer compound instead of match heads - empty spent cases - Lyman bullets and normal loading tools - that would almost equal 50 rounds in about 20 minutes

Who is going to be the first to jump in the water and get one of these and give us an impartial review?

Without new brass, looks like rapid fire would be unlikely , as each time you reload a fired case, there's another primer dent ?
For 75 bucks I'd buy it just because. No chance at $200 !

If you use cast bullets, you can reload .223 for around $0.12 a round. I think I'll stick to that until .22 is available and cheap again. :p

Hmmm - guess I was lucky finding new primed empty 22LR cases:
I think it was Winchester that used to sell empty primed .22 LR and .22 WMRF cases for shooters who wanted to custom taylor loads for their rifles. I first heard of this when someone wrote a gun mag looking for a source of .22 auto RF ammo. The answer being to order the WMRF cases and trim to length.
Later on I read of a special rechambered .22 LR Walther PPK made for the CIA that used trimmed WMRF cases and jacketed rifle bullets hollowed out to hold poisons or explosive mixtures.

Formulas and instructions for making fulminate of mercury are available online. Its a fairly easy and reasonably safe process. A source of friction makes the mixture more sensitive, they used to use finely ground glass in the mix but later went to barium salts.
The fulminate of mercury is not sensitive till it dries out after being introduced into the cup or case rim. Centrifical force is the best way to insure the mix fills the rim all the way around.

Don't have a 223, but I can load my 22 Hornet for about $0.08 a trigger pull... about the same as loading 38s for my daughter to practice with her Marlin 1894. Those two rounds have seen the most work on my reloading bench lately.

A story I recall reading many years back had to do with reloading .22`s back in the `20`s and `30`s. Seems there was componets available including liquid priming compound. This was all well and good going in the depression. Then the loading kits were outlawed by the feds. Seems that some people were using the nitro liquid priming compound for blowing safes!Robert

On August 11, I wrote the fellow who is selling the reloading kit to ask if I could buy just the .22 mold. No reply. I would not trust someone who knows nothing about common courtesy.

Am I missing something, or is this just a cheap little mold and a couple tiny hand tools that someone is trying to get almost $200 for? Kind of looks like a world class rip-off to me. Maybe someone trying to cash in on the .22 panic while they can?

I do think it's kind of cool and innovative to figure out a good way to reload rimfire, but as long as loaded ammo is available at any price it seems incredibly impractical. Impractical is fine for those of us who like to tinker with stuff like this just to see if we can do it, but I sure couldn't see spending a fraction of that price on that "kit".

Does anyone know if Tannerite can be used as a primer compound? Can't see myself cutting the heads off matches.

I don't see any way you can use Tannerite for a primer mix. Totally different animals.
