Need your opinions. My old Lee auto prime is getting long in the tooth and not seating all the way. I see the new square replacement for it. Will it work as well and long as the old rig? Saw some of the old style on ebay for a good price but no guarantee if they are new or used.

check with lee, some of the OLD autoprimes they will swap out for FREE for a new one because of a perceived defect...

I bought the new auto prime and gave my old one away. It still worked well. The new auto prime is a good investment and I'm not sorry for the purchase.

Looks like they are no longer doing the free swap out, but they ARE selling you the newer auto-primes at half price with you trading in your old one.

I have both the old and new models. IMO, the old is a better unit. I have no worries of a loose primer escaping with the original.

In this case, I found that new and improved isn't.

I wore out one or two of those before learning the aluminum has to be lubed. Also, you can shim that vertical plunger (for lack of a better word), the top of it, so it will push a little further. That will keep it working and seat your primers fully. I think I have used some card board from a primer box for this.

I have both I like the old one better. the new square tray is easier to use because primer boxes are square so it loads better. the new style doesn't seem to feed the primer in well.
