So I just cast last night for the first time with the Lee .309-180R and my bullets are dropping at 168.4-170 gr. The lead I'm using is 5 parts ww to 1 part range scrap. And I was just curious as to whether this is normal. Any insight or thoughts are greatly appreciated...

Very few molds drop boolits at exactly what they say they will. Your alloy will make a big difference. I only have one mold that drops at the right listed weight. Mostly they all drop on the heavy side for me. It is strange that your mold drops a lighter boolit. I would check my scale with something of a known weight, first and maybe check it on another scale..

Your quoted weight sounds about right.....for the .309-160R

What is the the length of the 160r? I will check to ensure the correct mold was shipped

The mold number is on the top of the mold adjacent to the sprue plate as you look down on it.
