Off to another flying stop. Leopold 3-9 has maybe 14 or so MOA. Here is a pic of the target at 50 yards, lowest cluster is the scope bottomed, highest cluster is the scope's max elevation. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't aiming at the TOP dot.

There are a few more scopes to use... But anything could be the reason. Bases. Rings. Scope. Shooter.

What brand and style bases and rings.

The mounting location is cylindrical, so what gives?

Reverse the rings, that will tell you if it's the rings or the base.

Sounds like you need a 20moa shim (20/1000th's under the scope/rear ring).

Scopes on the contenders are a hoot!!! A 22lr setup for shooting the 1/5th scale (small bore rifle) silhouettes standing up with a pistol.

That's an old bushnell 4-12 x 40 with bdc that I had on 2 different 30-06's & shot the bbl's out. That setup gave that old scope new life.

Do you have a 20 moa base in a reversed orientation?

Make sure the base is cranked down good and tight, optically center the scope, and get a set of Burris Signature ZEE rings and use the inserts to sight your scope in for point of aim. I'll even give you a set I have if you need them....

Seems like something is wrong with your scope to me; I haven't checked in several years but 14 minutes of elevation sounds awfully limiting.

The first thing I would do is make sure the scope isn't in a bind, then check it either with a collimator or with the gun in a vise aimed at a 100 yard target. If it does in fact only have 14 minutes of adjustment, I would be calling Leupold. I bet they tell you to send it in for repair.

you cant judge M.O.A. adjustments that close. 50 yards the bullet is still on the rise. start at 100 yds with a tall blank sheet of meat wrap... bet you will see a wider group spread.

Tasco 6-18 took care of business, only issue is the loose screw on the trigger.
