Hi guys....

It sure would be cool if we could start a digital library of gun/ammo related resources available for download... I know that I have an extensive library of military field manuals, as well as medical emergency books, reloading manuals, wild food reference, herbal stuff, and the list goes on and on... It would be cool if we could establish a sticky or something with links or maybe a lib trough cast pics or something.... Something private though that was available to our guys here maybe and not up for public grab and run types... I would love to make my stuff available to others in PDF format.....

What say you????

Who's gonna scan it in? That takes a ton of time!

Who's gonna host the huge files? That takes some serious server power.

Who's gonna manage it?

Good idea but a huge undertaking. There are already many gun-related files on several public domain servers in universities around the country.

This has been discussed before, and folks have volunteered to scan and upload documents, articles, and books - and the issue that stops it is: copyrights.
Here is one such thread:

The problem seems to be, that no matter how innocent our intentions, our current society wants to punish us for even unknowing indiscretions...
It's the "crabs in a bucket" analogy - no one gets out, because everyone else pulls him down.

How about if we just post links to our own google drives ???? Host our own stuff... Post a link with a list of what we have ???

I tried, but was shot down, mostly due to copywrigt infringement, I had offered to turn most into PDF to loan out. Oh well.
Castpics is what you have. :)

Unlesss it is really really old stuff, you DO have that little annoying thing called copywrite protection!

Even on your own drive, you are still violating federal laws by reprodcing it and making it avaialble outside the copywrite protections.

I would forget it. Just go with the stuff in the public domain and be happy it is there!

Just because you scan it and make it a digital media PDF does not mean the copywrite laws are not applicable. If you own the book, you can PDF it, just not sell or give to anyone else.

I am sure if you were an author of a book you would feel the same way about digital piracy!

Check this link out:

https://archive.org/details/Hell_I_Was_There_Elemer_Keith_Autobigraphy

There is a TON of documents in the public domain for you to download. Once at archive.org site, look around a little! There are documents on just about any and every subject you can imagine.....not just gun & military stuff!

Hope you have a fast connection! Many are H_U_G_E files.......300M or more. My 50+ MBPS connection downloads them in no time.

Have fun!
