Anyone have any info as to where I could find a box or two of new Hornady .405 brass?

Several years ago 405 brass was readily available from Hornady or through a number of distributors. It was never cheap, but it is/was good brass. Prior to that it was impossible to find and I had to make my own; I fireformed 30-40 Krag brass....10 grains of Red Dot or Unique with a plug made out of tissue paper...Messy, loud, but it worked, except that the cases were 1/4" too short. The rim and the case head were the right size, but that was better than nothing. Keep trying to find it and you will turn up a few boxes as enough was produced for some to be still around. RCBS also had some straight case stock that could be used to make them so you can give them a ring or e-mail to see what they/if they have anything. LLS

Hate to keep plugging these folks, somebody will think I'm on the payroll. I'm not.
Seem to be good people in my limited dealings with them. Seems like Hornady brass is taking a long time to get to the shelves.

Thanks for the tips. Found someone who was nice enough to part with a new box of 50 and waiting to hear back from someone else here. Also sent an email to custombrassandbullets

You might also want to get ahold of Captec and see when they're going to run another batch of 405's. http://www.captechintl.com/proddetail.php?prod=405WIN100pcs&cat=15
