This ought to keep me busy for a while. Used up most of my scrap powders too. I didn't clean the spray gun between colors, so it made for some interesting color combos.

Next comes my joy of all joys,NOT,......... sizing. That will take a couple of hours I bet.

wasn't so cool Sunday and Monday when I was casting. Two of the hottest day we have had this year.

Just noticed that you are in Auburn, heck were neighbors.

Pretty close! I used to drive up there weekly when I was a member of a HAM radio club there.

do you remember a young guy in that ham club named Carey Huff? would have been 7-8 years ago.

I don't have any Qcards left. Mine was a picture of my "shack".... a '92 F-150 with a dash mount 25W Uniden President 10m and a 28" mag mount antenna. I got cards from all over the planet with that thing. KE4GWE

What did you spray on those

pshaw 10 minutes at best with a star sizer.
but then you could have already sized and lubed them and shot them by now.
I guess that kinda defeats the purpose of spraying and cooking them though.

el34,

Yes, ES gun. I tried one or two batches of the tumble method, just for the experience, and that was enough. I like the ES sooooo much better.

PBTP powder, yellow, white, orange, black all the scraps I had left over. Which reminds me, I need to order powder.

runfive,

I don't think a star has any advantage over the way I have my 450 set up. I make my own sizer die with the top half of the hole enlarged, so that I can just drop a slug in, to where the base is flush with the top of the hole. Then it tapers down to the actual sizing section. I also make a long flat nosed top punch that will push the slug all the way through, and put the slugs in nose first. I removed all the linkage that lifts the slug back up, so it's just a push through sizer now. You just drop and pull the lever.

I timed myself last evening. I got 41 sized, in one minute. I was trying to go fast, so a more realistic number might be 35 a minute. I sized about 2/3rds of the box before I had to quit and cook dinner, spaghetti (I love spaghetti!). It shouldn't take an hour today before I'm finished, but I plan to go to the shooting range, so that might do away with sizing for today!

I gathered that R5R was talking about sizing and lubing in the star... vs using powdercoat at all. You could definitely size and lube that many in a Star much faster than ESPC, but then you'd have a pile of greasy lubed boolits and wouldn't be in this section of the forum. ;)

OH, I got it now.

Plus you will have sticky soot all over you and the gun.

I really like being able to wipe the little bit of soot from the powder off using a DRY cloth. And my hands are still clean after a couple hundred rounds. When I used lubed bullets, I would have black goo all over me and the guns.

I also like using one dry patch to clean the bore (really just for the heck of it) and then one oiled one for rust protection. I don't miss scrubbing lead one bit!

And that's why you don't see me posting in the bullet lube section!:bigsmyl2:

I'm getting that way too. One more try- with Smoke's powder, then I'm out of the ASBBDTPC biz.

I bet Smoke's powder will ES really well. That stuff is fluffy! But I haven't cast anything fresh that needs to be sprayed.

Beagle333

Smoke4320 sells it. It is powdercoat sold by a powdercoater! He's one of us! :bigsmyl2:
And he has some quality powder too... cheap!
