I just had to try this new mold out from NOE. I shoot cast bullets in many of my recoil operated MG's, much to the disgust of my MG shooting friends (as well as my CBA buddies). No need really, just fun. The 325365 bullet was fitted with Hornady .32 caliber gc's. Allox 50/50 (because that was what was in the lube reservoir) Sized .3250". Powder used was IMR-4350. The recoil operated guns need the extra muzzle boost given by the slower powders at less than maximum loadings. I was surprised that good accuracy was maintained up to nearly 2100 fps (about 155k+ rpm). Booster leading was not to my liking at that speed however and I settled on about 1900 fps. It was necessary to change the 11mm blast cone (.446") to a smaller .355" for reliable searing and to keep the ROF at about 700 rpm. Accuracy was very good at 300 + yards. Shooting prone on SA, I could easily keep all hits on rock targets as small as a shoe box or so. I had tried the LEE MAX, but the nose flat is just to large for reliable feeding in the MG34. I will continue to test this mold, but the results so far have exceeded what I expected. The pictures show the barrel & booster with very little lead fouling after nearly 150 rds. The barrel it's self was nearly clear of leading. JH PS: I have also included a picture of my better half shooting a M49 Iranian carbine with CB loads.

Wow! An MG 34. I'd love to look that MG 34 over inside and out. It's supposed to be the Swiss watch of MGs.

I've shot the 7.92mm MG 42 quite a bit as well as its current iteration the Mg 3 in 7.62.

My son with the MG 42.

Isn't that a hoot!!! Small world indeed.

We sure had fun with you and the "arsenal" that day. You'll not be surprised that my son has followed me into special ops and now has his ammo supplied by Uncle Sam.

Haak48,

One of these carbine has come across my path and I am trying to learn more about it.

Is it a good rifle to own or should I let it go? Never shot a 8 x 57 before, used to M1G, 1903 and Enfields. Does it boom or is it a nice shooter?

8x57 is very similar to 30-06 as far as recoil and boom.

Wow! I want love to have an MG-42 or an Australian vickers. Never seen anyone reload for a machine gun! Especially with cast!

have you tried powder coating? I really like it for my 8mm mauser loads.
