Newbie here.
I have a Savage semi-auto pistol that was my Dad's. To my knowlege it has not been fired for at least 60 yrs. The printing on the receiver is "Savage Arms Corp., Utica NY USA Cal 32" Second line "Patented November 21, 1905 - 7.65 M-M".
Are 32 cal boolits still available? Are 7.65 mm the same as 32 cal? By my calc., 7.65 mm is 0.301". I assume, before firing, this pistol should be checked out by a pro. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

32 acp is the most likely candidate. the 32 acp has a few designations. here are a few in addition to the 32acp.

32 Browning Auto
7.65x17mm
7.65x17mmSR (SR - Semi-Rimmed)
7.65 mm Browning (typical designation in Europe)

Would likely be a Savage model 1910 or a model 1917. Both are basicaly the same with the 1917 having a spur type hammer & a heavier grip. The 1910 last made in 1917 & the 1917 last made in 1928. Info according to an old Gun Traders Guide I have. FWIW

Excellent little pocket pistols. I think there's a collectors assoc. somewhere or a book on them.

Thanks for the responses and info. The picture of the model 1917 looks like it. However, the one I have has an indian with headdress on the handgrips with the word savage. Anyway, I think I will pursue getting it checked out and see how it fires and handles.

Thanks guys,

Thanks guys,

Found a picture of one with the indian on the grips in my old Gun Trader. IT indicates this would be a Model 1910.
