Western Field 30-30

I'm currently cleaning up a gun for my FIL and was curious about the date of manufacture (DOM). Do any of you know of a place that list the DOM for Western Field rifles. This one is a model 740 A-EMN, S/N 71-141XXX. Appreciate your assistance.

They are the same as Marlin. I think it was made in 71. The first alpha number was the year at first and then they went to double alpha and then the year and then subtract the first 2 numbers from 100 to get the year.C-1946
