I was wondering about maybe removing the gas check relief band in one cavity of my 2 cav Lee Mold to create a plain base bullet. It is the 160 gr. .309 cal and I wonder if I would be able to still push my slugs with about 13 gr. Unique? I like that load and it does quite well. I am curious if the absence of a GC would lead to gas cutting? I know that a lot of the bigger rifle loads (40 and above) are without a GC. Let me know guys.:-D

EMC45, check out my post about removal of bevel base in the 'Mold maintenance and design' heading. Ben gives a wonderful account on how to do this and it was with a 30 caliber mold.

Single cavity Lee molds being like $14 I would just buy one and convert it. Just seems odd to me two cast woe diferent boolits at the same time. If'n you wanted a pile of one kind but didnt need the other it would be weird to cast from one hole. My $.02 worth. J
Oh ya, I do think it would be a neato plinker. I would do a lighter one too.
