I'm going to try my hand at wet tumbling and need to know what is the correct size pins to use? I have read post on the matter and most use different size. I clean 30-06 down to .380. Any advise would be helpful.

If you do not care about the primer pockets, tumbling without any pins at all works well.

Two years ago, I bought a wet tumbling kit. It came with pins having a 0.041" diameter. I then discovered that with this size pin, 3-5% of the tumbled cases had pins stuck side by side in flash holes.

I then replaced these pins with those having a 0.047" diameter. After tumbling many thousands of brasses in these pins, I have yet to have a single brass with stuck pins. Those are the ones I would suggest for use.

I use the .041" pins also and have the same problem. After seeing this a friend bought the .047" and has never had a single pin stick in a flash hole. My vote would definitely be for the .047" pins.

Thanks gang, That was pretty much the size (.047) I was thinking due to the flash hole size.

Got mine from them too! Love them. Just be sure you give them a wash/rinse before your first use of them. They have a bit of cutting oil on them. PLUS the send you a little package of Lemi-shine to get you started with. All you have to supply is the dawn soap and tumbler!

Flash holes run from .080" to .082". That's why two smaller .041" pins can get stuck in flash holes, and why two .047" pins will not...
