Yesterday, I stumbled into approx. 100 lbs of scavenged lead shot in various sizes. I want to mix it with my pure lead/stick-on WW for some rifle and pistol boolits.

I'm thinking 50/50 for rifle (up to 1500 fps) and magnum pistol, 3-1 for .38/.44Sp. Would this do well? Of course, I'll be adding 1-2 % tin/pewter to any mix.

Download the free spreadsheet on here and it will answer all your mixing questions. Watch out for too much Sb.......can cause wash in your barrels.

Thx, Bangerjim; I had forgotten about that calculator spreadsheet. I had downloaded it shortly after joining, then forgot about it because almost all of my casting so far has been with WW alloy. As they're getting harder to find, it's a good thing I can "roll my own" by using that calculator.

Again, thx for the reminder.

Glad to help. I mix all my alloys now. Haven't found/bought/melted COWW's several years.

Mixing opens up many opportunities!

Have fun!
