Recently I came into possession of a used Lyman 429667 4-cavity mold. This is the one with a bevel base.
I have not yet cast nor shot with a boolit from this mold, but previous experience with bevel base slugs has not been satisfactory.
I do intend to put this boolit in the trial and error folder, but my outlook is not hopeful.
I also realize many people must shoot and like this boolit, otherwise Lyman would have dropped the mold from production.
My question is, if I decide to eliminate the bevel portion of the mold and make it into a plain base, what is the method to use? Fine grit sandpaper on a dowel rod, chamfering tool, Dremel tool?
Any info will be helpful.
