Got a ladle today

I was browsing a popular auction site for cast iron ladles and came across one I couldn't refuse. I'm guessing someone had their smelting session interrupted and then just gave up casting altogether...I've read here that you're supposed to leave SOME lead in your smelting pot, but this seemed a little excessive, or is it?
