Lee Precision (Sponsor at top of this page) has their Lee Double Cavity 8MM "MAX" Mold (with hadles) listed on their "closeouts" for $17.32 plus shipping. They appear to have the "alignment rails" and are listed: "new".

I bought both the Max and Kar from them on sale.
Both cast great, so far.

I picked up a 6.5 Swede, already had the others. I think they had old style overstock from cutting molds for Midsouth. Or maybe Midsouth traded out of any old style they had since the customers want the new ones? By the way, they still have the Max, 7mm Soup Can, and a few others.

The "Max" I have cast .326 and 254gr checked and lubed.
I think that's what they mean by "Max"
I wish it would have cast bigger.

What does the max mean.

This particular design is called the "8mm Maximum". The slightly lighter design that Lee periodically cuts is the "8mm Karabiner".

There is some neat history here on the forum concerning the design and eventual commercializations of these two Boolits.

"Max"
"Karabiner"
"Soupcan"
"Thor"
"Bator"
"Eagan"
"Ranch Dog"
"Keith"
"Loverin"

Whats in a name? :bigsmyl2:

I really like the 8mm max. At 250gn it makes an 8x57 perform like a 35 Whelen.

I just saw the 8mm Max on FS Reloading. Was tempted. I still have a thousand or so steel core jacketed that I picked up at a gunshow. I guess Ill wait on the new mold till I run out.
