found this on Ebay for $6.21 shipped and they have more

the thermocouple on the left is the one that came with it
but i wanted to use the heavy steel one on the right to lay in the pot (i have been using one with a multi meter but got tired of looking at a conversion chart ya know ambiant juction temp voltage + probe voltage = xx.x mv then look at the conversion chart again)
i checked the stock one in boiling water and it gave me 98.7 deg C
and mine gave me 97.8 deg C
perfect for our atmosphereic pressure today would have been 99.62 deg C
so i can live with it

and yes it doesnt do Fahrenheit just Celsius so get over it :bigsmyl2:

Cool. Fortunately for me I do it the way us Texans do and just stick my finger in the pot. No F, no C, just know whether it's hot enough, not, or just right. I bet you didn't know that about us.

Why would I want one of them, when I built one that cost 10 times that much! [smilie=1:https://s.yimg.com/ok/u/assets/img/emoticons/emo41.gif

Well, do you have one yet? There's your reason. Get with it Chuck.
Actually I wanted something like that before going PID.

Thanks guncheese for the temp range. For 6 bucks, sounds like a great deal with the addition of a SS K Type probe

Jim: Good practice converting C to F now. There will be a day when the US goes metric

really breeds confidence in the product

do you have a link to the 90 degree thermocouple ?

guncheese

well those 90deg jobs are spendy, i had bought 2 of them for 1000hp ethanol burning jeep (620 cu" of ethanol burning fury)
110708

but they are like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2M-EGT-Thermocouple-K-Type-For-Exhaust-Gas-Temperature-Probe-Sensor-Screw-Thread-/161106020813?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2582aac9cd

but im sure these would work as well
http://www.ebay.com/itm/K-Type-Thermocouple-Probe-Sensors-High-Precision-Temperature-2m-/360944721902?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5409fb5fee

or with a smidge of messing the one that comes with it will work fine
just get creative with a nut or something to help hold it down

Printout? That is not environmentally sound.........wastes tree! HA.....ha.

Besides, I do the conversion in my head if I need to.

I will stick to my several hundred dollar FLUKE multimeter for temps in F........if I ever use lead temp at all.
