im to lazy to work this one up
was thinking 3.5 or 3.7 gr of 700x
im guessing that would be about 1050fps maybe 1100 with a powder coated boolit
here they are all lined up and ready to load
110465

what say ye !!

i wish i could bring myself to dip into my bullseye for 9mm but i just cant
its 700x or bust !!!

The IMR data site shows 3.4 for a max at a little over 1000fps using a125gr lcn(lead conical nose).

I use a couple of clicks over 3 grs of red-dot to make my plain base 9m boolits make the steel go ding down at our local range.
700-x is right close in burn rate and fluffiness to red-dot, so I'd start there if I wanted to burn up what little 700-x I have in the 9.

digging into some data even IMR cant make up their mind (heavier and deeper seated with more powder
almost looks like the -20% lawyer got a grip on the data before publishing
found some IMR data from 2001
110483
110484
110485
even then it seems goofy
but by that data and some others ive seen
i would think that im good with the 124gr of .580" length seated to 1.100" at 3.5-3.7gr
that gives me .234" or so bullet base in the case which gives .040" more usable case than the 147gr xtp which they have at 3.7gr max

that's because the xtp seats so much deeper than other bullets.
if you sub the xtp for another bullet and use the same powder charge you just created a proof load at minimum.
all the xtp data is lower in the 9m for this same reason, it takes up more of what little room there is in the case.

it takes up more of what little room there is in the case.

yup thats why it doesnt scare me to use that as a touchstone for this load
heck 3.5 - 3.9gr would seem safe for the 124 by the heavy bullet #s

why dont i just go back to loading .45 you just cant screw that up!

you'll be fine with the numbers you come up with.
like I said I only use 3 and some to make things go.
if I have a doubt about one of my boolit/load combinations I always check seating depth [operation] first then figure case capacity from that.
book oal means nothing to my gun, but pressure does.

because im a dipper
and i had one that did 3.3 (a trimmed down .5cc)
and a .5cc (those toss 3.7gr of 700x perfectly)
so i did 100 of each
i know they are both safe
and im pretty sure the 3.3 will run the gun
will test during the Monday morning session :Fire:

both of those loads worked fine
the 3.3gr is very light the brass lands right at my feet
i know in the winter it wont cycle well
the 3.7gr tossed the brass a bit further
both of them seemed to as accurate as the other
what i most likly will do is setup a 3.5gr dipper
and call it a day
the primers on the 3.3gr load showed not much of anything (to be expected)
the 3.7gr load did push against the breech a bit bit didnt look as bad as most factory loads

sounds like a simple easy plan.
I dip 3.5 grs of 700-x with a 380 case slightly modified with a grinder and a paper clip.
it's my 32-20 load in the ruger 30 carbine revolver.
