My son came home with a couple 10lb lead down rigger balls. Any idea if they are pure lead or if not "What"?

If they're homemade, it's a cr*p shoot as to the alloy.

Absolutely. They can be made of anything that'll melt. I've seen some made of pure, some of WW, some of linotype and monotype.

Just like divers weight belts, they could be made from just about anything that would melt and pour.Robert

Can you say......"HARDNESS TESTER"?

Even artist's pencils are better than guessing.

But to be absolutely sure, you will need to cast up an ingot and take it to a scrap yard that has an x-ray gun to tell you the % make-up of your "stuff".

Take a small ballpeen hammer & hit em does it ting , if it does it`s hard stuff , if it thuds it`s soft & probably castable stuff . & take note of how easy/hard it dents .

As far as content ?????

If ya melt em & cast with it do it as a seperate batch until ya learn more.

Could be any alloy. No way to tell but test it yourself.
