Tried my best to find out from the company but, no luck so I,ll ask here.

Need to know the uncompressed length of the main spring to a Remington model 11 Sportsman Ver three, 3 shot. I know I could take a coil at a time and get this but it sure would be handy to have a good start on the length. Thanks for your help.

above is a link to an ebay guy selling some springs for the model 11. I suggest sending him a message and asking him for a measurement. I've done this a few times and most are happy to help. There are a few others for sell as well on ebay so maybe one of them will be willing to help.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kevin. I did the next best thing with that link. I went to it and saved a photo than counted the coils. Ha. Funny thing about it is his coil count is a little over 80. I cut mine to 74 and it's still too many for easy pullback. I'v slicked up the action so no probs there. Never had one to throw me like this. If I went with the same coil count as his, mine would not cycle all the way back. The housing is stock length so it's not off there. I will come to the end on this one. Lol. Thanks again man.

My $0.02:

If the issue-length spring's shortened for "easy comeback", there's a pretty good chance of the gun becoming damaged from excessive force on the receiver & forend wood after some shooting.

I would respectfully suggest rearching the adjustment of the friction ring setup.

Yup. Know about the friction ring setup. This gun was built from a bucket of parts so no telling what it will take. Ha. Thanks Pietro.

Make sure it has the fiber recoil bushing in the rear of the action. If not what usually happens is the recoil spring tube will break. Seen this happen on a few of those guns.
