I've gathered the parts for a Mauser build. My action is stamped on the front ring "MODELO 1912" and on the left side between the ring and the loading notch "WAFFENFABRIK STEYR" and under that "AUSTRIA" What I don't currently have is an "arrow head" for the 55* Witworth threads or a threading tool ground to that profile. I can make both of these and that is the course I'll likely follow. I am going to check the threads with a pitch gage and see if it is in fact a smaller angle on the threads than 60*

Having said that, what do you folks think of the taps and dies that Brownell$ sells for large ring Mausers?

I have one of the taps for a large ring.It does help clean up the threads.

Sometimes they were put together by baby huey.:bigsmyl2:

Google A.R Warner company. If they don't have it for threading they can make what you want. And they may have the fish tail guage for the 55 degree thread. Frank

All european-made imperial threads follow British Standard (55º) to the best of my knowledge. The 60º is only used in US and metric threads.
