The reason I ask is my local fun store just came up with several pounds of blue dot. I loaded some blue dot as a kid but didn't collect data back then. I'm wanting to push the 358429 around 1100 fps. Not a stretch the frame load but respectable. My 686 hasn't pointed out a load to me it really likes with the 358429 yet, I've tried medium loads of unique & heavy loads of 296.

Would this powder be a wise investment for my wants?

Mind sharing your loads?

The Lyman 4th cast bullet manual shows 10.0 grains at 1233fps and 8.3 grains at 970fps.
Sounds like you could split the difference(call it 9.1 grains) and be right where you want.

I just loaded some up a few weekends ago. I was getting right at 1050fps out of my 4" 686 with 9.2gr BD. Accuracy was pretty good too. 2-3" at 28 yds off a make shift rest.

I don't have the 358429 but I do ave a NOE 180 WFN and 9.0 grains blue dot should get you right where you want to be. Plus its a good whitetail killer for us so far out of three different guns.

Thats the load with the 180 WFN in my GP 100 , I was wondering how it did on a deer Thanks

I use 10.0/BD with 358429 in my Ruger GP 6", gives me 1220 fps and good accuracy.

Out of our 1894 we get complete penetration on broadside shots, hopefully this fall I can post back on how it does on Hogs!

I used to knock over the 200 meter teams in IHMSA with a 4" 686 and 10 grains blue dot with the 358429.

With a 4" tube I'm assuming that's standing, I played around with my 6" GP 100 from creedmore but never pulled the trigger . The muzzle blast from my 7 TCU went up under the flap on my leg guard once that light me up pretty good
