A friend of mine is in dire straits with his Winchester. The rifle is a .44 mag. AE dating from the late 90's. The part that has broken is the "Link", part number U343030050; that is the bit that drops out the bottom of the receiver, pulling the locking bolt out of engagement. Basically the side of the link where the Tee slot is has cracked and broken off so now the rifle is completely inoperable. Both of use have chased up all the usual suspects, Brownells, Gunparts corp, Midway etc, for Winchester parts and either they don't have them or they wont ship to the UK.

So does any one have or know someone who has, a link for a .44 mag. M94.?

.

AFAIK, ALL post-64 Model 94, non-94AE, 1964-1982 lower links were identical - it's the .44 (and .357) Magnum lifter/carrier that's different (and made of unobtainium).

Give midwestgunworks.com a look.

They show one in stock.
Phone number is:637-475-7300

I have bought parts from them before they are good people.

You wouldn't think that part would be that hard to come by, or some how have a shipping restriction to the land down under ?? That said, if all else fails, get a local machinist to just make you one. Hope you saved the broken part, should be all of the pattern he needs. Machinist could also get an idea of the hardness from the old part to use the proper material and harden as necessary. I sure would try any possible supplier first before doing this, machinist made this part before and can do it again if necessary.

I ordered all the 94 parts I needed from Browning/Winchester customer service. Have the model and serial # handy.

Thank you all for taking the trouble to look in to this for me. The rifle is an angle eject model and links for the older 94s are different.

Gunparts corp. will not ship to the uk. Browning UK (winchester agents) do not have any parts and are pretty useless to deal with anyway. I had already seen midwest gun works, but they do not have one in stock. I'll send him the link to the HomeStead parts site but the links are for the plain '94, not the angle eject which has a shorter receiver, the link shown is said to fit 94s in .44, .45 and .444 marlin; well you wont get a round as long as a triple four to go though my m94 AE .44.

I could manufacture one but the problem is the Tee slot for the locking bolt. The cutter is small enough to be considered a "special" and they cost! Besides which I have problems getting access to the workshop at the moment and it isn't my rifle!

I had the same problem. Check this topic in the forum: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?192564-Winchester-Model-94AE-Broken-Carrier

I've bought lots of stuff from Numrich , they ship to me in Nova Scotia, BUT ther is an export fee of $35 on top of your order so you better order a few things to make it worth while. they wont ship barrels or cylinders though.

I am pleased to say my friend got the part finally; from homesteadparts.com. It arrived in just over a week! Whilst stripping out the latch assembly from the old link he managed to lose the latch and spring, duh! Another call to the lady at Homestead parts and new bits were on the way. They arrived just four days later, along with an extra set at no extra charge; just in case! Needless to say this company will be getting more business in future.

Also homestead parts are having a batch of m94 links made.
