I am getting ready to start smelting, I am hoping by next week, if time and weather allows. I have everything but the molds.

I am going to start out by molding for saboted boolits for the muzzy, .430 and .452 ranges. mainly get my feet wet. I am on a budget and can't spend much. I am looking at the lee molds. but I don't know what style boolits to use.

...............Since it's a ML'er I doubt you'll be doing any rapid fire. With that in mind along with the budget thingie, a couple 2 cavity moulds would work just great.

This is Lee's page on their website showing the moulds they currently offer:

In addition, Lee offers two 45 cal boolit moulds that may also be of interest. They are the 457-340F & 457-405F. These can be lubed and then easily run up through a Lee .452" size die and used in your sabot. The 340gr slug sized to .452" works like a champ in the 45 Colt, too.

I would not have to resize if I order the sabots that would fit the 457-340F & 457-405F. but I would just so I would not have a whole lot of sabot laying around

I'm not sure if anyone makes sabots for the .457-8 boolits. I know that you can get them for .452. Be prepared to have your fillings tightened though. Shooting those heavy boolits out of a light ML can be brutal after 20 or 30. I have a CVA with a tupperware stock, and even 250s over 90 grains hurt after awhile. I'm going to fill the hollow portion of the butt with walnut shell just to add some weight.

mmp does, they are orange http://www.mmpsabots.com/ below the hph 24 black. I have a bad right shoulder so recoil is a factor for me. I have picked out one mold I am going to try first off, LEE 452-255-RF, it is close to the weight I am already shooting. I have 3 others I want to try but I don't have the funds for right now.
