I'm placing an order soon with my custom reamer shop and wondering if anyone has any special requests for a custom swage die. I will consider any requests you guys might be looking for in a swage die set. It typically takes me about a year from first introduction of a new design to finished dies but now is a good time to let me know if anyone is looking for a particular caliber or different ogive to existing calibers.

At the moment I am going to have a

8s ogive 17 cal reamer made
something very similar to the 142 grain .264 Sierra Match King
possibly some sort of Sierra OTM 125 grain 300 AAC bullet reamer
probably a 357 mag reamer
maybe a 6.5s ogive .312

let me know, it is not cheap to have these solid carbide reamers made but I will consider any possibilities for new swage dies to add to my offerings.

Good shooting and swage on!

I see the 20cal VLD becoming a hot item since Berger released the 55gr VLD.

Those sub-224 cal cores are just too small for my fingers to play with though.

OK, lets go to the other end of the spectrum. 50 BMG so that when I run out of API and M33 Projo's, I can swage my own (Prefer Corbin Press, but RCBS Rockchucker or Lee Classic Cast 50 BMG Press works also). I have the NOE 850 Gr for casting 50BMG Boolits, but really need to be able to make 50BMG using copper Tubing (OK - I guess it's really only "Want To") .

How about a .375, perhaps with a .175 meplat? Something that could possibly use 38 super cases to make bullets for a 75 Win or a 38-55.

Do you currently offer a 6mm?

50 BMG.... got it! Already have my R&D dies and bullets are looking pretty impressive. As soon as I get some more R&D time I'll post pics. Actually I am sending in specs for a custom boat tail core swage die.

20 cal ..... got it! I have three sets of 7s ogive dies. I'll see how they shoot soon. Maybe look into a more VLD profile

.375 .... yep! Got that too! Any size meplat is possible and available for order.

6mm .... you guessed it! Got it too. actually have more then a dozen dies just waiting to be assembled. 6s and 8s (don't know how many 8s I have but I got more then 10 6s)

So far it looks like I got the special requests covered pretty well, any others?

This not an official special request, but....

Lately, I've been pining for a 90-95 gr 6mm bullet with an ogive that will work for 6x45mm with a COAL of 2.240" or less. It sounds like an easy goal to achieve, but, alas, commercial pickin's are slim to non-existent. Everyone seems to use funky, non-standard profiles or plastic tips that are not easily removed.
I've actually been pondering contacting you, to see what the extra cost would be for a custom profile.
But... I haven't, yet, figured out what ogive would give me that OAL with a 1.750" case length. I suspect it would be around a 5s.
Perhaps an 6s open-tip or 'protected point' could work. I'll try to figure it out tonight....

SMK .264 11s ogive reamer prints sent off to custom shop.

also got prints for a core swage reamer for the 50 BMG sent off. It will swage the core and form the 9 degree boat tail in the lead core at the same time. I will form the boat tail in the empty jacket then drop in the already formed boat tail lead core, this allows me to do it all on the stock Lee Classic Cast press. Yep it is awesome and all done on the Lee! I would have used the Seagirt but it didn't have enough ram travel.

Drawing up plans for the rest of the reamers on the list above, if anyone has any special requests let me know now, it is typically once every 6 months or so for my reamer orders and a year later before the dies are ready from the new designs.

17 cal 8s ogive prints sent!

30 cal ACC Blackout bullet reamer drawings sent. Will match very closely to the 125 grain OTM profile.

I would love to see a .277" die set available. But then, I would also love to have the funds to buy a set, too. So I guess this isn't a real request, just a wish.

Yep! Got the .277 set already here back from nitride and ready to assemble.

I have two 6mm dies to offer. Looks like a 6x45 has .49" difference between COAL and OAL. My point form die is a 5.75s ogive. It has the exact same length nose at .49 and should work very well in the 6x45.

here is a look at the 6mm 80 grain bullet made from 17HMR brass

Talk about ask and you shall receive! Can I volunteer to be a tester? :)

maybe!

I figure I will draw down some 30 cal jackets or attempt to swage up some 6.5mm jackets. Might get some bullets made in these dies by end of year, not exactly on top of my priority list at the moment but a set is in stock ready to be polished and assembled so that is a good start.

357 mag prints are off to custom reamer shop!

I think this may cover my needs at the moment. Speak up if anyone has any requests.

Man! 12 hours of modeling reamers is mind numbing and a bit exhausting!

I wouldn't mind a profile similar to that of a 125 Sierra SMK for the 300 BLK.

YEP! That is just what I did with the plans for the 125 SMK ACC bullet. All ready sent them in.
