Last year I bought a Dillon 650 from a commercial reloader.
Got tired of the slop in the camming parts and some other parts that were just plain wore out from normal use.
The machine was rebuilt in 2001.
Made a list, called Dillon with the expiation of paying for the parts.
They said it was under warranty! I'm now a Dillon fan for life!

Dillon's retail offerings are all Warrantied for life. Tell them what broke and they will send it to you(within reason, Major parts may require authentication). This is NOT true for the Dillon 1050's. They are considered Commercial machines, and have a one year warranty.

Anything electrical is one year warranted.

Yes, Dillon definitely takes good care of their customers. I have an older electronic powder scale that I needed a power supply for as I was getting tired of changing batteries. I called them to ask for the specifications of a power supply as I figured since it was so old they would no longer stock parts. Pleasant surprise: "What is your address, no charge!" :D

I have machines from them that are almost 30 years old. They have been rebuilt by them for free a few times and all it cost was shipping it to them.

If I could get Ford or Chevy to do the same thing I would be set.

I don't mind paying for good "stuff" if I use it enough. Never blinked at the fact that the 1050 only has a 1 year warranty either.

Dillon Rocks! I screwed up my RL 550 B. My mistake. I called Dillon and explained the situation. The rep told me what I did wrong (very nicely),and told me what part needed to be replaced. I asked what the charges would be and the rep asked me to say "Thank You". I said "Thank You" and the part arrived two day later. No charges at all! With this kind of service, I'm a Dillon fan!

I love the fact that the warranty goes with the machine and does not stay with the original purchaser.

That isn't true either....

I had a RF100 primer filler.
I bought it used and it had issues.
I had to replace a few parts (mechanical) under warranty and was going to purchase the upgrade (electrical) controller. They said they would cover it under warranty.

I started with a Dillon 550 then added a 650. They are different animals. Then picked up a very old very used Dillon RL1050 (the short stroke one). Got it cleaned up and running and thought, I'll be selling my 650 soon. Ended up selling my 650 to buy a Super 1050. Yes, the 1050's are out of warranty. Meh. They are built solid. Not real worried about it. So toying with the idea of selling the RL1050 and buying toolheads for the Super. Toolheads are $200 each. Ouch...

Estates and widows? I found a used 650 about 6 years ago.

If you can build a collator, GSI sells their bullet feeder/billet aluminum tool head for $321-the collator. Makes is a better deal for the 1050 than the 650 because of the cost difference in tool heads for the 1050.

The GSI feeder also allows you to retain the PC die and seat then crimp in two separate stations.

Dillon keeps an eye on parts interchangeability, and changing designs upwardly.

I had an RL 450 that developed a bind in one of the arm pins. They sent all of that stuff to me ....free, but I also inquired about getting an RL 550B frame, since I had the press all apart. The frame was about $90 and when I got done, I had the changeable tool heads!

Why stop there? I ordered the auto-powder rig, auto primer and loaded shell eject parts. All of it went together perfectly and I learned about my press and how to keep it running perfectly!

I didn't save any money getting my second RL 550B this way but I already had the press, I learned a lot about how to set the equipment up, and was able to sell my 450 parts at a fair price to benefit a guy with several of the manual presses. In all, it was a perfect plan!
