I was searching the internet for tin and found a website called Zoro Industrial Supplies. They have 0.5lb bars of 50/50 solder for $5 and free shipping on orders over $25. Just thought I'd share, might be good for someone needing smaller quantities of tin. Here's the link (http://www.zoro.com/g/Solder%20Pots/00055527/None).

Lead at the salvage yard is $1.00/lb. pure tin from RotoMetals was $20/lb, last time I bought some. You would have to buy at least 4 bars to get your lb of tin. Then you would have to have more lead, or some COWW to mix with it. If you had no other source, it might be okay. But, I wouldn't consider it a great buy.

Strange 5.57 for 1/2 # and 12.99 for 1#. Cheaper to buy the half #.

You can always cruise the S&S section here. Otherwise Rotometals or similar unless you can find somone with a roll of solder to donate locally.

^^^^ Some member who had accumulated a lot of pewter was just recently selling small ingots in S&S and you really don't need much since pewter is such a high percentage tin.

imashooter2 also has pewter on here about once a week, smelted into little small bars with the weight written on each one.
