I have a question for anyone using the RCBS 9mm-124-CN mould. The nominal size is .356". What size are your bullets actually dropping from your mould with your alloy? I'm most interested in the sizes with WW alloy, or WW plus tin.

Here's the mould I'm asking about: https://shop.rcbs.com/WebConnect/MainServlet?storeId=webconnect&catalogId=webconnect&langId=en_US&action=ProductDisplay&screenlabel=index&productId=3323

Thanks,

Dave

I use this bullet with 9mm and also for 38 special. It measures as cast .3575-.358, using straight ww's. I run it through a Saeco Lube-sizer die that is .357 mainly to get it lubed. I don't add any tin as the bullets fill out well as is. In 9mm it feeds flawlessly...never misses a beat in a Luger, Baretta and a SW 952. I rarely go over 900 fps in the 9mm and go even slower in 38; accuracy is good, no leading. It has been a good mold for me for many years. LLS

I had that mold but recently traded for one I could use. With my alloy the bullets dropped at .3562. My alloy is from a bullseye pistol range and wheel weights. I have a CZ75 P-07 Duty (9MM) and the bore slugged at .3558. Even as cast the diameter of the bullet was not large enough and I could not get them to stabilize in the CZ. I traded the mold for a RCBS 230 gn. RN .45 Cal. And of course at .3562 the bullets would not work in any of my .357 revolvers/rifles.
The RCBS mold was essentially useless to me with the firearms I own. I replaced the RCBS 124 CN with a Lee 358 RNFP 6 cavity. I size those bullets at .3577(that's the size they come out of my Star .358 sizing die) and all is well.

Thanks Guys!

I appreciate the info. I've been looking at that one for awhile, but I was concerned about the size. I have a pretty good supply of WWs from at least 15 years ago, but I didn't know what I could expect when that runs out.

Something in the .3575" to .358" would work for me, but .3562" probably wouldn't. That helps. I think I might try that one anyway.

I has been my experience with WW that they always yield a slightly larger diameter than some other alloys.

I have the mold and with WW's it drops just under .357. I "Beagle it with one piece of tape and get.358+ out of it. Shoots very well to 200 yds out of my Rossi .357 rifles.

Thanks,

I was really hoping I could cut my WW alloy 50/50 with pure lead to stretch my stash out longer, and still get by with at least .3575", but it looks like that might not work.
