Convert center fire to rimfire

Hi, new guy here. You all have a great forum. I see all the time people wanting to convert rimfire to center fire. I have a BSA MIII 1916 Sporter, I would like to convert to 22lr. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have a lathe and a small mill so I would like to try and do this myself. I tried the search function but all I can find is people wanting to go up instead of down. Any help would be much appreciated.
