Went out today and burned up 60 rounds of 285448 / 8.0 grains Unique.

Old man suggested lowering it to 7.0 grains, and I will do that with the last 20 285448 boolits that are left from the big cast-a-thon.

Used my Hornady L-n-L headspage gage, it isn't as sexy as the RCBS precision case mic, BUT RCBS does't make a 7-30 case mic AND the complete L-n-L (with four datum bodies) is less than half the price of a precision mic.

Headspace for my T/C Contender 7-30 Waters (use the .350 body) is 1.694 - ish.

Next sizing session with 285448s, I'll shorten the sizer depth about .050 so the Kephard band is not sized.

So how did it shoot? I just acquired a Contender with 7X30 myself, need a sizing die before I can load for it, can't wait.

Shoots well enough. Right now it is angle of hanger accurate. H&I die of .285 seems to work well. All the rounds dropped right into the chamber, using a COL of 2.6". I have not tried sizing any of the RCBS 145-SIL, I probably need to cast at a lower temp to get a shot at a smaller nose diameter. When I cast them, the molten lead was running off the top of the sprue plate, not puddling.
