Hello all,
I have a Win 94 in 38-55 that slugs to .377. I have some light .379 lead on hand but can not find lighter bullet loads unless I look at .375 Win data. I have Carolina Cat Bullets on order in 235gr RNFP gas check and Badman Bullets in 230gr RNFP without gc. Does anyone have any published data for IMR / Hodgdon powders for these lighter bullets from the 38-55 tables. Thank you.

Lyman CB Handbook lists several loads for a Saeco 225 gr PB boolit. Trail Boss, 5744, IMR4198, 3031, 4895, and Rx7. Any preferences? My current load is 44 grs OE FFg under a 250 gr 360681 so my limited experience is of little value to you.
Recent manufacture 94 or something older?

Hey TXGuNut,
Thank you for your reply. More info. I've got 3031, 4198, and 4895 on hand. I found some H322 locally as well. My 1980 Win Saskatchewan commemorative came to me from my dad. I have several books, including the third issue Lyman but none have loads lower that 240's (if I remember correctly) and most 250 and more.

In order of listing from Lyman's 4th:
4198 21.0 grs @ 1440, max 24.0 @ 1750
3031 31.0 @ 1428, max 36.0 @ 1805
4895 29.5 @ 1406, max 37.0 @ 1837
Above listings for the 225 Saeco #638, no listing for H322

That is great. Thank you very much. To add, at max, those are some pretty fast speeds for the round.

I use 4895 in my 1893 Marlin. I also use the RCBS 37-250 bullet. I weighs about 265 grains cast out of wheel weights and tin. It fills the case better than 4198, 3031 or 5744.

Hello Bill,
Thanks. I've got a bit of my all around go to powder 4895 and will probably play with it more.
