7.62X25 brass the EASY way!-

Go and buy it from midway.

7.62X25 brass the CHEAP way!-
Tools needed-
Reloading press
Case trimmer
Neck turner
FL 7.62X25 Dies
223 brass
----------------------

Go and count out however many 223s as you want to make into 7.62X25s.
Then run them all the way into the FL 7.62X25 sizing die.(I used LEE dies, and do not know if it will work with RCBS or Lyman. If it does not just try taking out the decapping rod assembly.)
Next cut them all most to length with a pipe cutter. If this seems hard, use a pare of pliers to turn it. put the pliers on the neck side of the case.
Then trim the cases to length.
Now turn the necks. It may take several tries before you get the neck turner set right. The cases are to thick to use a 308 pilot, but a 284 works fine.
Now full length size again.
Load.
Shoot.:Fire:The cases do bulge a little at the bottom, but not enough to matter. Works well. Compered to how I did it before it is not hard. So I learned something good today.

work up your loads for this type of brass.
i used 223 for 9x21 when it was not availale.

the big news is that the case volume is very low compared to commercial or mil 7.62x25.

using published data will lead to high/excess pressure ( maybe not with cast, but will with jacketed).

Cheap way works when you have lots of extra 223 (I'm sure you do), when you only have a couple hundred 223's and a 223 rifle to feed also the easy way can also be the cheaper way in the long run! (but if I had buckets of 223!) Aaron

Well we have 4 of the big ammo cans, three of the small ones, and 5 buckets of range brass that needs sorting, and about half of it is 223s. Yes I er Dad has plenty for my needs!!! And I get to use dads Boolits too!!!

Thank you for adding that in. I forgot all about that. That could have been BAD BAD BAD!!! But it works fine with my light loads.

I have shot them with undersized bullets and after fire formed run a .308 reamer
in the neck and next load works great. Just don't lose them. just alot of work.
Now that 223 is getting harder to find don't know if I will do many more? ;-)
