I've seen quite a number of "bullet molds" put on Ebay over the years by people who have no clue, but this one's got me stumped. Anyone know what it is?

Sinkers would be my guess.

Once upon a time, suppositories were made as required by doctors and pharmacists. That is a mold for same.

Sinkers, I believe you tie in between the fatter ends with no wire loop needed.

One SERIOUSLY overbore heeled boolit.

That one is for sinkers. But... It reminds me of very early military bullets, that I can't remember the name of, that had a rear stem that the paper patch and powder charge.

right you are. Back in the day the doctor made his own. The sizes corresponded to the patient size. Not a sinker mold

Don't look like any suppository mold I've ever used. I say sinkers.

Depends on the position you are in when inserting.

Looks like a skirted sinker mold. Made for jigs and spinnerbaits where a silicone skirt is slipped over the base.

I'd say the same thing. I've only seen one suppository mold and they were smooth-sided, like a paper patch boolit.

I agree with you and shooterbob.
Suppository molds are (mainly) plastic these days, but metal ones do still exist ... and come in various sizes.

It is surely for a jig for fishing... Suppository has smooth sides, not lumpy...lol.... Although I am no expert....

I say the same also because it might also have a part missing for it also .I have seen some molds that you need a sheet of steel to the mold to make split shot but look it it with out it you would not know it.I have some of those molds for splt shot for fishing.

My guess, based on looking at hundreds of these over the years is suppository mould. For Veterinary use.

Human Suppository moulds are generally 30 caliber or less. Ahem. For obvious reasons.

Non Human suppository moulds are generally 30 caliber and above. Sometimes over 75 caliber to prevent the victim from expelling it.

I've never seen a suppository mould with a sprue plate, which is another dead give away.

That's what I know. Worth what you paid for it.

Not required for normal velocities.

My guess is that is a ballast (sinker) for fishing with a drag net. The best example is catching shrimp with a net. Sometimes the net is needed to sink fast for a school of fish or shrimp. I have seen one that was round with a similar stem to tie the net to it. With a slip knot they can be removed and different sizes/weights tied to the net.
