Hi All,

I have a 26" 50 cal H&R Huntsman MZ that I am going to modify the factory breech plug so I can use Per. Caps and black powder. I want to cast and shoot my own minies and I am curious what others are casting and shooting from their huntsmans using BP.

thanks

do you prefer blackpowder to blackhorn 209 powder? both are very very accurate but with the 209 powder you dont have to clean untill your done shooting. most dont convert back to a number 11 cap nipple but go the other way to 209 primer ing. nothing wrong wil real black, very very accurate.

Right now 209 primers are cheaper and easier to get than #11s. Why not shoot real black with 209s and save time, trouble and money.

Before the inlines hit the market I was taking old H&R shotguns and making muzzle loader using the 209 primer. I had made about 2 dozen when Idaho changed the law on the primitive hunt to require percussion caps exposed to the air. About half the rifles I made came back to have the breach plug changed to percussion.

Hi,

I currently have four (4) H&R 50cal MZs, (2) huntsmans and (2) sidekicks. The one I want to try with #11s and BP is a 26" barrel that I have fitted with a stock set, ramrod and frame from a 58 cal Huntsman. I just want one MZ that will "smoke" when I pull the trigger and I have a couple of pounds of Goex and several hundred #11s. This isn't a rifle that I will hunt with, just for plinking a few times a year.

thanks
