Martini caliber?

I have a small frame Martini Henry that is not a Cadet. It has no markings except proof marks on the barrel.
The bore slugs .243. The chamber accepts a Hornet case modified to 297/230. That should be a 223 bullet.
Any ideas what it might be?

If it accepts the modified 297/230 its possibly chambered in 297/250. It should slug around .257 though. If it has a 5 or other odd number grooved barrel and you are not rolling the slug in the jaws of your vernier it would explain the low readingof .243.
