454613 is the number of an old mould I just picked up it is missing the bottom ,Maybe a hollow point, question is what is it and can I get a replacement bottom for it. Looks to be in excellent condition got it in a box of mixed bullet lube gas checks and moulds. I will probably be asking about a couple of other old ones in the mix thanks bart

Bart:

Your mould #454613 was a .45 caliber Minie' ball mould introduced in 1974 and dropped from Lyman's list in 1993. It had a fairly wide cavity in the base and was used in a muzzle-loading rifle - probably the Lyman "Great Plains" model - a bit undersized for the bore so it could be easily loaded, but the base would swell a bit when fired to grip the rifling. Several of the machinists here could make you the hollow-base plug.

When I got a 358439 minus pin last year lyman replaced it for $15 and paid return shipping. Send off an email first. Gianni.

My brother needs a 45LC rifle mold with large lube grooves. The 454613 with an adjustable length gas check base plug may be just the ticket. Time to make an inquiry about replacement plugs.
