Anyone have any loads for the cast 230 mold lee makes I'm not using a suppresor just a plinking load.. It has to cycle an ar 16 inch barrel ... I'd like to use powder I use imr 4227 or accurate number 7 or trail boss or blue dot

Lots of information on the forum about that. I don't think either of those powders will cycle for you, most find RL7 and AA1680 to do well however. AA-7 and 4227 are a bit to fast to give you gas volume to reliably cycle 230 boolits. They might work with 155gr and lighter however.

You can use the faster powders, but you need a pistol gas port location. The loads you may see for powders such as Trailboss are designed for the bolt guns, and will not cycle an AR.

Do you have a load for booth of those powders that will cycle a 16 inch barrel ar?

In my CCMG PP gas 16" bbl I'm using 9.8 or 1680 for reliable functioning and good accuracy.

10.5gr of RL-7 won't hold back on last shot consistently. Also used 9.2 of IMR-4227 with Win SR primers to get sub speeds.

Best powder for functioning subs has been AA1680 by far but you use what you get.
