Looking at 30-06 brass to use for jackets, for longer bullets than .45 acp, is anybody using excess brass to make other jackets using tubing jacket dies?

No, but..........

I still throw away tons of berdan primed brass 308 and 30-06 brass..... It would be much more useful as jackets.

I don't throw them away... I sell them as brass scrap... But, you get the idea.

Similar use could get surplus 223 Rem/5.56 brass converted into jackets for other things. I have seen quite a few examples of those posted here now and then.

Maybe I kinda should start a home for berdin primed brass and put them to good use, we could trade or just share or something. It isn't right for the brass not to be loved.

Your dies are on the way!

You might make a post on the various brass trading sites like swap arms here or there is a couple face book sites too letting them know you are looking for scrap brass. I know I have a pretty good collection of 8mm berdin primed brass. IF you can't find any let me know.

Good shooting and swage on!

p.s. the 45 acp has a thinner web/base to it yet still requires a bit of force to reduce to .455 when using the Lee Classic, any of the .473 rifle caliber brass cases will have a thicker web. You will need to be sure to fully anneal them both to ease the sizing process.

7 cents a piece ???? you should be able to find it for less then $2/lb (scrap) prices.

Check your local scrap dealers.

Every time I go in, I spot five gallon buckets of scrap ( mixed ) rifle cases.

I don't know what they get for them but they pay around two bux.

Thanks, I know the dies are on the way. I'll know soon enough about the cases and the LCC.
Waiting patiently for the brown truck on the horizon.

I like the 358315 and even better for my 35-06 is my 358009 double cavity mould

The J-bullet made from 30 cal carbine brass would work in 358 Win, 35 Whelen, 358 Norma, etc

5.7x28 for 7,7 Jap or 7.65 Arg or 303 Brit

223, 222 or Fireball, etc for 375 H&H

p.s. and maybe the 357 SIG for the 44 Mag
