I just got offered a couple hundred pound of 22 LR lead from a local kids shooting range - free!! - later in the summer. Obviously, I will take it and make a generous donation to the non-profit running it but does anyone know what the alloy's hardness might be and whether or not I might have to add tin etc.

it's casts very nice medium hard bullets for me.

I found a little tin (1% or so) got me just about bhn12. I suspect it might have a little antimony but not much tin as found. This may have changed over the years but that was my experience with a target range 35y ago. Really nice clean metal.

Bought 50 pounds off a member here some time ago that came off a .22 only indoor range - tested about 30:1 and cast beautiful Money Bullets for the BPCR 45-70...
