I am studying up on casting and believe that I spotted something that was discussed on this fine forum. I know little, but know I need something to melt lead. I bet it will be there tomorrow. This is a tool, etc, etc, etc estate sale going on till Fri.

I never owned a Waage pot but I have read on the reloading sites about how good they are and how well they last. If it works, it would be well worth the 70 dollars that the sticker seems to be saying. my .02 anyway, james

Where's the power cord?
Ask to test it, if you can't then offer less.
Sorry, you knew that already.

The WAAGE pots are made in a lot of different heat ranges. Some won't melt lead. Make sure it will do what you want before you plunk down the cash.

Personally, if I was to buy it, I would figure on replacing that cloth-covered cord, and make my offer accordingly.

Well I passed on this. The dial only went to 500* and it was 1/2 full of hardened plastic product; made to coat, newly made, machine parts. The dial was the deal breaker, certainly not the damaged cord that popped a circuit breaker, right quick. :o and left everyone semi dark in the basement.

Probably what they used to coat tool handles with.

The guy that owned this mind-blowing collection of items, no way, coating rake handles. lol. I did get a new pair of heavy asbestos gloves for future casting, for $1. in addition to a tiny cast iron shovel thingy, to melt ?? to add to my non- existing pot. Oh and I knew to buy a few old rolls of soldier and one of lead wire with a tiny diameter. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l542/g5uis23ft5h/th_IMG_0004_zpsd3d0023c.jpg (http://s1123.photobucket.com/user/g5uis23ft5h/media/IMG_0004_zpsd3d0023c.jpg.html)

We had a wage pot set up to coat tooling for storage with cosmoline. Making one punch or set of grippers or part is expensive set up for each operation. Making 3-6 sets or more saved set-up time. Extras were coated in hot melted cosmoline cooled and stored in the parts crib. Tht pot was probably a cosmoline pot for coating tools for rust and handling protection.
