The CT40 debuted at the 2014 SHOT show and I was able to secure one of the first test samples. It took me a bit to warm up to it but it turned out to be a nice little pistol.

Good writing. The question I had that remains unanswered is "How does this model compare to the CW series and is that line being discontinued?"

Thanks for sharing.

I am a Kahr fan and currently have 3 a PM9 ,CW45 and TP45 ! the CT series has a 4" barrel, the CW series has a 3.5 " barrel. yes they are both being made.

bobthenailer is correct. The CT 40 has a .4" longer barrel and holds one more round in the magazine.
As I understand the CT 40 is an addition to the line and not a replacement.

Thank you all for the kind words.

I really like Kahr pistols except for the shape of the trigger and trigger guard. They tend to crowd and pinch my trigger finger and prevent me from shooting the pistol well. I had a CW9 and just never could make it shoot better than my cheapo Kel-Tec PF9.

Buds gun shop have the new CT in .40 and .45 for around $300. That is a solid deal if the pistols perform like my cm9 has.

Watch out, Bud's will hit you with fees after the sale to make up for the low price.

Bought from them before, credit card fees and shipping, pretty standard fare. I usually buy from GB if not found locally for right price.

Thanks for the review of the CT series pistol. Seems it is right between the TP and the CW series for size and barrel length? CT45 would suit me fine, if I go after another Kahr pistol, it would be high on the list!

Mine also performed quite well after running 250rds through it, the Wolff springs take a "set" by this time and cycling overall is smoother. Some of the posts on the Kahr Talk forum outline a detailed stripping and cleaning before the first shot is ever fired, and I can say that is very good advice, as some of the machining and tooling debris is left in the works, and once test fired at the factory, they don't clean them before they are shipped. Cleaning these pistols when they are brand new is an important step that is not to be overlooked as it will likely affect the first range session if not done.

After not being able to find a TP45 when I wanted one, I settled for a CW45 that has been an edc for a yr now. My only issue with it was the magazine floor plate, I wish they would have made it fit the whole bottom of the grip and made it rounded so the sharp corners don't "print" under a tee shirt when you are carrying it concealed. I fitted a Mag Pack Officers 7rd magazine to it because it fits flush and doesn't print.

The other change I made to my CW45, was to turn the rear sight around and drill two spots in it that I filled with white fingernail polish, I find the old school 3 dot sight picture a LOT easier to pick up in a hurry than the "dot the I" sights the Kahr pistols come with stock.

Awesome advice sir. I appreciate that. I did not clean the CT40 until after a few hundred rounds. After the cleaning and break in the pistol did much better.
I hate I did not know you and i were almost neighbors. It would of been cool if you could of went along with me for the review.

Ive got 4 Kahrs now and almost jumped on a sub $300 cw40 at cdnn. Even bought brass but blew the tranny in my suv so had to put it off. I love the kahr triggers. Very smooth and even.

How did the felt recoil compare to the cw45 or similar 45 kahr?

The recoil was a little sharper than other Kahrs I have shot in other calibers but not unmanageable. The Civil Defense rounds were pretty stout but they were also stout in 9mm Luger.
