Just picked up a new Lee 160/.45 mold. Why?, just because, but now after casting a bunch, I'm wondering what I'll use them for. The mold threw nice boolits only after a few rejects. The little buggers are short fat looking. I know they'll be fun in the .45 Colt with a few grains of Trail Boss or Bullseye. I'm wondering if anyone has used them in the ACP and what are you loading.

I love that boolit in 45acp. It's my steel speed shooting boolit. I use it with about 5.4 grains WST at 1.100OAL

Yep, I shoot a lot of those in .45 acp and .45 colt. Way more accurate than they look like they would be. They like to have a little bit of speed in the colt though. I wish lee would make a 6 cavity mold.

Looks like the old collar button bullet they used to have for the 45/70 rifle.
Now it could be considered the collar button bullet for the .45 trapper in .45 Colt.

Have you shot this yet? I just got the mold and made a few loads (30) of various lengths from about 1.130 to 1.233 to test with about 5.4-6.0gr of 700-x.

I have not shot them yet, I was just gonna see if they shot and how they functioned in the operator.

I have pushed that bullet to over 1150 fps in my son's HK USP. It is basically a 357 mag semi auto at that point. Accuracy was more than acceptable. I also load them to 700 fps in my 45 Colt Vaquero and my S&W 1917. Great plinking loads for my grandsons. I have yet to try them in my 1911 but I see no reason why they wouldn't be awesome.

If you like light bullets in the 1911 platform I have had excellent results with the Dardas 150 LSWC in my 1911 and the afore mentioned HK.

im thinking about ordering this mold to try in 45 lc loads . ive been using a lee 200 gr swc bullet im happy with it for the most part but if I can make something else that will shoot well and save a bit on the lead supply I'll try it . theres a fair amount of data for it on hodgdons web sight with the same powders im already using

Yep, my Contender in 45 Colt really likes them. They shoot much better than they look they should. They also cast and load easily due to the rounded base. Tim
