Your initial understanding is correct. Reusing j-words is a bit iffy and not likely to work well.

Well that's what I thought. Never heard of reusing one, till reading it here.

I never understood why people use the term J-word here as if it were verboten. It has never been frowned upon to say "jacketed bullet" on this site.

Reusing jacketed pistol bullets has worked well for me. These are tough bullets that fire fine again if not deformed.

True bullet casters will not allow the word "jacketed" to cross their lips...

J word refers to a lead boolit with a full lenght gas check.

I know what j-words are, even keep some around. Just don't want to talk about them here.
Welcome to the affliction, Mach Cat.

If you have to play with them, that is ok, its your addiction after all.

But if I'm going to talk about what I've been doing, its a lot more fun to talk about something you MADE vs something you bought.

Besides I think those cute little cast boolits with copper bottoms are way cuter than FMJ or J word bullets.
Could just be me but somehow I don't think so.

J words are acceptable here, just so long as you swage them yourself. Swaging is a whole 'nother addiction, one that I prefer to casting, for some strange reason. Maybe because not nearly as many people swage as cast, so it is different. I've always liked doing different stuff. :)

it's just easier and shorter to type j word instead of jacketedded bullet, see even spellled it worngly. :)

I love FMJ and cast boolits.

No problems here!

J words are bullets, cast are boolits.
