RCBS Lube-A-Matic 2 just arrived

Time to turn down the lights and turn up Barry White...

Plus my Lee 6 cavity handles arrived as well. Though it does take some milling to get them to fit a Lyman or RCBS mold, $14 each makes up for it...

Tossed in the .285 H&I and the #346 top punch. Old man stuck in the provided RCBS loob. Heated it a bit too much with a heat gun, it ran like water. Note to everyone, the RCBS LAM2 is NOT designed to seal against low viscosity loob. It ran out around the bottom angle of the H&I die, then it cooled. Sort of like a candle dripping over the edge of a holder.

Once it cooled down, the LAM2 didn't leak -OR- have a build-up of loob below the gas check. I wonder what the torque is on the loob screw, because it feels pretty consistent when it fills the grooves. The boolit was sized equally around the circumference. Depending how it shoots in the 7-30, I might not get the .286 H&I from Buffalo.

Still do not appreciate round loob grooves.

Ahhhhhh...... a new loobsizer..... Light some candles and pop a cork.... and celebrate moving up in the lube chain. :cool:

Use a ¼” drive ½” 6 point socket with a slot cut in it to allow a bolt to go through the top of the
luber screw and you can eliminate that annoying double ended ball to apply pressure. The ¼”
drive socket wrench works much nicer. I cut the slot with a metal angle grinder. And you’re not
messing with the factory setup. Think I paid $1.59 for the socket!

Also got rid of the bicycle grip and replaced with a more comfortable round ball - 2-1/4" dia.

Did something similar with my last new LAM2, those sockets are as hard as woodpecker lips.

ooh, now this is something entirely new to me, and it pleases me! Greatly! As I was futzing around installing the .285 H&I, the 10" Crescent wrench was awkward and sloppy. What is the socket size? I probably have a few el-cheapos lying around to cut down. Looks like a job for my Sieg X3.

I like the idea of a low-profile tool. Uses a 3/8 socket to a 1/4 inch drive adapter...

i believe the socket was a 13/16", cut three or four from one socket with a parting tool on the lathe, turned a stepped disk, chopped up a cheap allen wrench and tigged them together.

Make more than one, your buddies whine like little girls untill they get one:-P
