i have most of the pieces i need to construct a modern target flintlock pistol but i have some head scratching to do.
i was wondering if someone had one and could take some pictures of the workings of it.
not exactly able to picture in my head how i want the trigger to interact with the sear on the lock.
i expect it is just like a rifle just flipped around but a few pictures would help.
attached is the style of pistol i am building

What is the purpose of the backward flintlock?

i am told it helps cancel out the barrel dip that would otherwise be induced by the dropping of the hammer.
i have no real life experience with it. yet.

Ratboy , if you come to one of the big shoots at Friendship Mike Yazel sets up a booth on commercial row and I am sure would be willing to help to answer your questions. Next shoot is in two weeks .

I have the percussion model in .36 caliber of the one pictured. The flint lock pictured that way really works well, I have a friend who has won gold with his at Friendship!
