All of these posts about powder coating boolits have been very intriguing.

I found some bottles of powder paint from coating lures a while back... one step closer to giving it a try. I couldn't resist any longer and found an old WolfGang Puck convection oven on CraigsList for $10 -- that is sitting on my casting table now. I was surprised at how big the thing is. (My wife noticed it almost right away, looked at me and shook her head and mumbled "what now?")

I figure I'll try the shake and bake method with the Cool Whip container and Air Soft BB's. I read somewhere that the white BB's don't work as well as the Black BB's, or maybe it's the other way around. I've got to dig up the threads and start reading.

If I like it, I'll have to stop using the 2 oz/$7.99 bottles of PC and visit Harbor Freight!

Oh yeah, I have a 310 gr mold that drops somewhat small boolits -- I'm interested to see if a coat of PC will help fatten them up a little.

Black bbs work best.

About .001 per coat.

HF is 3.50 a pound right now.

Good luck.

Oh Cook that outside.

Thanks - by the way, I followed links from this thread, and wound up spending an hour reading! Amazing how time files...

Powder coating wont help if your boolits are too small to engage the rifling... Powder coat is still just a paint and used instead of lube. If your boolits dont do good groups because then are too small, powder coating probably will not help.

I started because I had a bunch of boolits that dropped around .458 to .4585 instead of .460 for my 45-70.. My barrel slugged at .4575 so they still will engage the rifling so I powder coated them to get them up to the .460 I like.

I use PC to "fatten" up my boolits nor my mosin nagant. I have a lee 312-185-1r mold that drops .312-.314 out of round. I pc and size to .315 for a .313 bore rifle. I'm still tinkering but I get 2" 50 yard groups which is as good as I got with surplus

Welcome to the madness. I started doing PC'ing when it first came to light on here about a year ago. You will see my hen tracks in just about ever PC thread.

I do both ESPC and BBDT. Quit using grease!!!!!! No smoke, no leading, hardly ANY cleaning!

And it is fun.

Have fun.
