About ready to order my PID equipment, but I wanted to get a double check on if I'm ordering the right equipment.

All from Amazon and I really haven't dealt much with Amazon so that's another reason I'm trying to be sure I won't run across any issues.

Sensor Probe (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00843IKWK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2Y736KGZ14HTQ)

PID Unit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087O6S2A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AD7C755W08DM6)

After that what else should I be looking for? Gauge of wires, box to put it all in (cheap preferably, I was thinking of building something out of wood), anything else?

Going to use the schematic from here (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?181319-Pid-Controller-Schematic) as it was the easiest for me to read and understand. I was in hopes that I would order it today and have it by next week for my vacation, but looks like the probe is shipping from over seas and won't be here for 2-3 weeks. I've got about $75 to try to complete this if at all possible. Thanks guys for your help. I'm pretty excited to get this project going and join the temperature controlled pour group!

all you need now is a box and some wire. When I made mine I put an outlet on the back so I can plug my pot or my powder coating oven. I purchased thermocouple connectors so I could hook different probes to my pid. http://www.omega.com/pptst/SMPW-CC.html
If you do use the connectors you should use the same type of thermocouple wire between the pid and female connector. For all the electrical wiring I used 12ga.

Depending on your PID that schematic may or may not be just exactly right. Assuming you're using a SSR all your really doing is letting the TC send a signal to the PID to turn on the SSR and shoot juice to your pot. The TC may or may not be marked for polarity. If when you're done just hold the TC in your fingers and the temperature on the PID should show a rise, if it doesn't just reverse the TC leads. The wires that carry actual current to the pot should be larger, I used 14 ga for my Lee. The leads that come off the PID to the SSR to control it can be smaller hookup wire. That would be ditto if you put alarm lights in. They're not needed but I like to watch mine! Definitely mount a 110 outlet to plug your pot into. I figured a regular 15 amp one was sufficient. Wood box with vent holes is fine but suggest you use a light metal piece for the front as it's easier to work with to cut mounting holes in.

You'll love it when it's done!

Great info guys! Thank you. Let me ask, is that connector needed or is it just something to make hook ups easier? Also, with the outlet, is that just a standard outlet I can purchase at a home depot store and wire just as you would a home installation? Looks like I'll also need a male plug, which I can assume can just be cut off an extension cord? I really am excited about it, I've read so many great things about those that use one! I just want to be sure I have all the parts needed so I don't have to make a dozen trips to the stores after I get everything sent to me.

So added to my list will be:
12ga wire
Terminal strip
15amp wall plug in
Male end of extension cord

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm not the greatest at this stuff. Mind you I can wire light sockets, outlets...etc but for some reason this project gets me just out of my comfort zone. I'm sure it's easier than I'm making it out to be. Just wish there was a youtube video on setting one up. I'm a visual learner.

If you're cutting up a power extension cord, there's no reason not to use some of the cord to wire up your PID (I did).

If you have an old computer power supply you can gu that and use that as your case. I used a PS case and added a heat sink to the side of it and mounted my SSR to the heat sink.

Here's mine. Like the man said if you use an extension cord, one part to plug into your wall outlet and the other piece can be used to plug your pot into. I put the plug for the TC in so I can just plug in my lubrisizer when I use it.
